February is going to be big

Just how big you ask? Well, big enough that we’re just going to hand off a brand new HP ProBook 4530s.

We knew we wanted 2012 to be the year we gave back–back to the community and back to our loyal and wonderful clients, friends, and following. That’s why we launched the Recycle-IT campaign in January and why we’ve decided to giveaway a top-of-the-line computer this February. So starting today, we’re opening the gates and allowing anyone who wants a new computer to go ahead and enter. The rules are simple: be a resident of the United States, “like” our Facebook page, or follow us on Twitter at @gopreemo, and fill out the entry form. That’s it.

The Goods

But back to the matter at hand. As we said, our Grand Prize winner will become the proud owner of a brand new HP ProBook 4530s. It’s a great computer; we wouldn’t be giving it away if it wasn’t one of the best laptops out there today. With a 15 inch screen, the ProBook 4530s comes with 4GB memory, Intel Core processing, LED Back-light and anti-glare screen, Windows 7, DVD drive, HD Webcam, a 6 cell battery and more. This computer is a thing of beauty.

What you may not know is we’re also giving away a second prize because one goodie just wasn’t enough. Our Second Prize winner will receive a brand new iPod shuffle–the better to jam out with while on a run or to tune-out an annoying co-worker.

Ronna is a survivor of throat cancer. She also has experienced major circulatory problems forcing her to be in and out of the hospital for surgeries and routine check-ups more often than anyone would like. She lives just north of Orlando and she is an avid user of the computer; it’s her tool to connect to her friends and family via email and Facebook. But then, she found herself disconnected from those dearest to her when her computer suddenly “fried,” as she put it.

Ian was one of the many friends whom Ronna kept in touch with on Facebook. After a few days had gone by and Ian heard nothing from Ronna, he picked up the phone. When Ian found out about Ronna’s lack of computer access, he quickly reached out to Preemo and hoped that we would have something that he could purchase and send to Ronna within days. Little did he know that without even hearing all of Ronna’s story, Preemo was ready to donate a computer, free of charge, and ship it out to her in time for Christmas.

“We have a bunch of older but functioning computers at the shop that we keep around just for this type of thing,” said Ivan, Preemo’s President. We revamped the computer, removed any old files and installed the necessary programs Ronna would need to get the computer up and running to her standards.

What seems like a simple gesture from our side at Preemo, in fact “opened a whole new world for Ronna,” Ian said. She was able to get back online, have the world and her friends at her fingertips, and save herself time and stress while trying to buy a computer with money she just didn’t have to spend.

She gushed about the computer and thanked Preemo again and again.

We have since continued our campaign to donate computers to those in need. If you know anyone who would benefit from a new computer and cannot purchase one themselves, please send a nomination to info@preemo.com and mark “computer nomination” in the subject line.

Last week, we kicked off the Recycle-IT campaign at Town Kitchen and Bar. There was a fantastic turnout complete with enthusiastic local residents as well as Commissioners and Mayors who were eager to come out and support recycling old technology to the benefit of Miami-Dade Public Schools. We bore witness to some relics of the past, all of which are being recycled in order to help bring Miami-Dade schools up to speed, technologically speaking. We picked up over one hundred pounds of batteries, heaps of mobile phones, femur-crushing laptops (including one that had not one but two floppy disk drives!) and old iPods that had been dropped once too often.

But if you missed out on our great event, you don’t need to fret. The campaign is running through the end of February, so you can still make a difference by recycling any of your old technology that may be just laying about your house or office. Remember, each dollar of proceeds that goes to Miami-Dade Public Schools is matched with ten dollars from the Federal Government. So, you can get rid of some old junk, save the environment and raise your property values by bettering local schools. It’s really a win-win-win situation, which is why we encourage you to share this great campaign with your friends and family. Everyone has old batteries and burnt-out lightbulbs just waiting to be thrown away–why not donate them instead?

It’s a fact: there’s a lot of pollution in the world. But what if doing your part to save the environment was just as easy as stepping out for the evening and joining a few friends for a drink? Would you do it?

What if all you had to do to help better the public school system was turn in all that old technology and gadgets you have piling up in the garage or under the bed? What if you didn’t even need to leave the house to recycle them? Would you do it?

Cleaning up the environment should be as much of a no-brainer as supporting local schools and as much fun as sharing a drink with friends. Cue Recycle-IT.

Recycle-IT: Mission Possible

Some of the most egregious pollutants come from old technology. From batteries to LCD screens, old tech gear releases high amounts of lead and mercury (among other toxins) over time. Even worse, it costs millions of dollars every year to barely dent the surface of curing the earth of these pollutants. We can solve this problem now and forever simply by recycling all our old technology.

That’s the mission behind Recycle-IT. The goal is to take the component parts of old technology and melt them down to be reused. And to top it off, they safely dispose of the portions they can’t re-use so we don’t have to worry about drinking the tap water. Recycle-IT offers in-home pick-ups for your old technology, coming to your door at your convenience.

It gets even better. Their campaign, which runs from January 11th to February 29th, to recycle old technology supports The Foundation for New Education Initiatives whose goal is to bring Miami-Dade schools into the 21st century. Any proceeds from donating old technology to Recycle-IT goes to the foundation. On top of that, the federal government has said it will match each dollar that Recycle-IT gives with ten of its own. TEN!

Giving Back

Our community has always been a big part of what drives us forward to work harder, deliver higher quality services and create new IT-related avenues for our clients. This year, Preemo is focused on giving back to the very community that makes us great.

Our first partnership this year is with Recycle-IT, a technology recycling campaign, in support of The Foundation for New Education Initiatives which directly benefits Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The campaign kicks off on January 11th, 2012 at Town Kitchen and Bar in South Miami at 6pm.

Recycle-IT accepts any old technology from mobile phones to computers and more. What makes this campaign even more amazing is that it takes into account your busy work week and allows you to schedule a pick-up at your convenience. It’s that easy. The campaign lasts just two short months, so get involved today! Also, we’ll be raffling off some great prizes every week on the Recycle-IT Facebook page for those who donate!

New Store

It’s official! We wanted to be the first to let you know (before the sheer excitement spread the word like wildfire) that Preemo is moving on up–or in for that matter. We’ll be opening our first retail store in South Miami this Spring! Located right on Red Road, just one block south of Sunset Place. And wouldn’t you know, we’re going to be in the same shopping center as Le Royale and Cafe Pastis.

Our new retail store will offer our same great Preemo service but with a whole new menu of IT and computer repair service offerings geared to help you come in and quickly get your computer back to where you need it to be.

At the new store, we’ll get all your technology devices running just the way you want them to, and more importantly back to you when want them. Keep an eye out for more information about the new store; we already have a few exciting surprises lined up for our Preemo customers.

Preemo version 2012

For us here at Preemo, 2012 is the year where we take our business to the next level. As I’m sure you may have noticed, we’ve made some changes as we set new goals for ourselves–aiming our sites on the elite title of the number one IT services company in Miami.

We’ve created a new look for the company–complete with a newly revamped website. We’ve added an array of new services including our Online Services and we’ve expanded upon our computer repair and IT services.

Despite all these new changes and goals, one thing will never change and that’s our dedication–to our clients and to our business. Preemo’s ever-constant goal has always been to consistently deliver quality services, trusted technicians and the best overall experience for our clients. We hope to continue to provide you with all of this in 2012.

Now, let’s just hope those Mayans got it wrong.
